I am a fourth-year Global PhD Fellow studying Computer Science at New York University, advised by Prof. Talal Rahwan and Prof. Bedoor Alshebli. I am based in NYU Abu Dhabi, and affiliated with the Data Science and AI Lab. Using methods from Social Science, Network Science, and Computer Science, I study various aspects of scientific editors and the publication process of scientific papers. My work has appeared in Nature Human Behaviour and PNAS, as well as being featured in media outlets such as Scientific American, Nature News, and Times Higher Education.

I liken computational social science to Isaac Asimov’s fictional field of psychohistory.

- 07.2024 - I will be attending ICSSI 2024 in Washington D.C. and IC2S2 2024 in Philadelphia and present my paper exploring the potential conflicts of interest of academic editors. Latest version of the manuscript is available upon request.
- 02.2024 - Our manuscript titled “Google Scholar is manipulatable” is available on arXiv.
- 01.2024 - The Winter School in Computation Social Science (WICSS) was held in NYU Abu Dhabi, and I helped out as a Teaching Assistant.
- 08/2023 - I passed my thesis proposal defense! The tentative title for my thesis is Understanding the big challenges in academia: Inclusion, conflict of interests, and the “numbers game”
- 07/2023 - I attended NetSci in Vienna and IC2S2 in Copenhagen.
- 06/2023 - My paper “Perception, performance, and detectability of conversational artificial intelligence across 32 university courses” got accepted with minor revision at Scientific Reports. It was a mass collaboration of 30+ NYUAD faculties. Read the preprint version here!
- 04/2023 - I had a paper accepted at IC2S2 as contributed talks and two papers accepted at ICSSI as contributed talks.
- 03/2023 - My second paper was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) and has reached 1400+ Altmetrics score.
- 01/2023 - First paper during my PhD got published in Nature Human Behaviour and was covered by 10+ media outlets.

- 05/2022 - I passed the Depth Qualifying Exam (DQE) at NYU GSAS!
